If We’re Going to Do This, We’re Going All-In and All-Out
There comes a point where you either hover on the edge of something, dipping your toes in, or you decide to take the leap. I’ve been living on that edge long enough to know it’s not where anything meaningful happens.
Art, at least the way I create it, doesn’t come to life halfway. It can’t. The colors I work with, the buildings I photograph, the way I transform reality into something imagined… it’s all about stepping completely into the vision. Hesitation dulls the energy. Playing it safe makes the work forgettable.
“If we’re going to do this. We’re going all-in and all-out.” That’s the promise I’ve made to myself, and it’s the energy I want you to feel when you step into my studio or see my work in person. Every piece is a bet on myself, on the idea that art can transform the way we see the world around us, thereby transforming ourselves.
But it doesn’t stop at the walls…
Beyond my artwork, I’ve started something new: a monthly conversation series. Two historians, thirty people, one intimate evening in the studio. The focus isn’t on lectures or PowerPoint slides. It’s about dialogue. We’ll talk about the past, the present, the future, and what our role is in shaping all three. Think less “history talk” and more homage to the intellectual and creative salons of the past. We’re resurrecting an old idea, and reimagining it for today.
And that’s just the beginning…
In the works is a concert series. Imagine something in the spirit of NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts but performed and recorded live in my studio’s acoustically treated immersive installation Surrender and Smile. It’s not just about listening. It’s about being surrounded, with color, light, and sound stitched together into one experience.
This is happening, it’s a matter of time and resources. There are opportunities for you to support my creative events beyond purchasing artwork and tickets. I think it would be so neat to have local businesses, organizations, or creative champions support the arts by sponsoring this concert series. Contact me for details if this interests you.

Meanwhile…
My wall art collection keeps expanding. Lately I’ve been experimenting with something deceptively simple: light. Not projections. Not screens. Not high-tech equipment. Just the color of light itself. With these new pieces, the transformation is striking. Shift the lighting in the room, and it’s as if you own five or more works in one. A single artwork evolves, revealing something new each time. Playful. Unpredictable. Alive. Check out the video below for a preview of what’s to come…
So when I say all-in and all-out, this is what I mean. Not one step at a time, but leaps. Not a single path, but branching experiments that all connect to one thing: making art and experiences that stop you, shift you, and stay with you as a reminder to try going all-in and all-out. Regardless of the outcome, you’ll discover more about who you are.
This is just the beginning.
The studio is open most days (artist hours folks), you can pop-in, but I suggest you schedule a visit.
