The Shattering is part of a larger installation that you get to be a part of. Each 2”x2”x1” acrylic block displays a “shattered” piece of my metallic paper artwork and capped with a mirror. The result is a vibrant mini artwork that reflects and refracts light.
When you purchase a block, you are also funding the creation of The Shattering, a sculpture composed of 50+ blocks, suspended and tiered by wire and hung from a ceiling. The finished piece will be a physical kaleidoscope beaming with vibrant color and light. The acrylic blocks refract light into rainbows while the mirrors reflect natural white light.
The shape, size, and design of the final piece is yet to be determined, but I expect to create at least three in various sizes and designs. A prototype is currently on display in the studio.
