Humming for You is a surreal photographic composite built primarily from photographs of the Malibu landscape, transformed through layering, color, texture, and abstraction into an imagined environment.
A hummingbird hovers near the center while fragments of vegetation, coastline, architecture, and light dissolve into one another. Hidden within the composition are subtle silhouettes of people, including the more prominent figure of a boy near the bottom center. Rather than being rendered like the surrounding landscape, these figures are distinguished by a different texture drawn from Renewal of My Spirit, quietly connecting the two works.
The figures are not immediately apparent. They emerge through prolonged looking, turning the landscape into something that reveals more of itself over time.
