TIERFULLY SHATTERED explores the creative potential of intentional destruction.
The sculpture begins as a print collection of digital paintings. Each work is intentionally hand-cut into two-inch by two-inch fragments- permanently sacrificing the original image in pursuit of something it could never become on its own. The fragments are reverse-mounted to polished acrylic blocks, mirrored, and suspended within space, where light, reflection, and movement become integral to the work itself.
Viewed individually, each fragment carries only a trace of its former identity. Together, they form an entirely new composition that shifts continuously as the viewer moves. Images align and separate. Reflections appear and disappear. Light bends through the acrylic, creating relationships that cannot exist within a single, static image. No single vantage point reveals the whole. The sculpture exists as a continually changing experience, completed only through the movement of the viewer.
Tierfully Shattered explores intentional destruction as a creative process. It is rooted in the belief that transformation requires risk, and that the willingness to permanently alter something complete can reveal possibilities preservation could never achieve.
